COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE

A face lift using cosmetic acupuncture is intended for situations of weakness and drooping of the facial muscles which are caused by cumulative damage to collagen and elastin fibers in the skin. The main reasons for this are due to overexposure to the sun and the loss of muscle tone
and weakness of the connective tissues in accordance with the laws of gravity. This situation starts already in the 30’s and gets worse over the years.

The common and conventional treatment methods for lifting a drooping face are mainly facelifts through surgeries to remove the skin folds and stretch them towards the earlobe or hairline. The
scars from the surgery remain and can sometimes be hidden. The surgeries are of course under full anesthesia and there are complications that are important to take into account.

The common complications are hemorrhages and swelling around the eyes, face, neck, and upper lip. There may also be damage to the facial nerves, bleeding and changes in facial expressions. The hemorrhages can remain on the face for several weeks or even months. The mental trauma is also not small, and by the very act of seclusion during recovery the trauma can
prevail.

Lifting drooping faces in the Chinese view In the Chinese view, this condition is defined as a weakness in the spleen energy. The fuller the
patient will be, the more excess fat will stick to the muscles and then the face will also droop. The thinner the patient will be, there will be a tendency for blood weakness of the spleen
and weakness of the connective tissues and hence a tendency for the skin to fall off.

A facelift with acupuncture helps strengthen muscle tone, stimulate blood and produce collagen and elastin.

FACIAL TREATMENT COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE FOR WRINKLES

Wrinkles are caused by cumulative damage to collagen and elastin fibers in the skin, due to overexposure to the sun and due to the laws of gravity which cause the muscles to pull downward.

TYPES OF WRINKLES
Expression wrinkles

near the expression muscles that are found mainly on the sides of the nose, in the forehead and between the eyebrows. These wrinkles are formed due to the sagging of the muscles of expression and the loss of their tone. Smile and laugh lines are more common.

Sun wrinkles

Relatively small wrinkles located in the areas more exposed to the sun such as the cheeks, the sides of the neck, the front of the chest, the nape of the neck. With exposure to the sun for thousands of hours of radiation, the connective tissues are destroyed and these wrinkles are formed. The sun is beneficial to our bodies and even necessary to provide us with vitamin D which is found in the cornea. On the other hand, excessive exposure to the sun can cause premature aging of the skin and the formation of wrinkles, and in a more advanced stage can even cause skin cancer. The skin has a long memory span and remembers exposure to the sun even from childhood, so it is recommended to avoid overexposure at any age and
especially to apply sunscreen. Gravitational wrinkles – about 20% of wrinkles are not at all related to sun exposure and are related to aging. With the weakness of the muscles of expression in the face and the collagen and elastin fibers, downward folds of skin will be created. Collagen and elastin fibers: proteins that are a main component of the white fibers in connective tissues (tendons, ligaments, skin, ones and cartilage). Collagen has a great stretching ability and the elastin that usually comes with it gives the necessary elasticity to the tissues. Collagen gives volume to the skin and thus causes the appearance of taut and fresh skin. As the body ages, it becomes difficult to produce collagen, which causes an excess of skin in contrast to the less volume it needs surround, as a result wrinkles are formed. Wrinkles In The Chinese Medicine View According to Chinese medicine, wrinkles can be classified into two main types: superficial wrinkles and deep wrinkles. The superficial wrinkles are usually caused by dryness or a lack of fat from the hypodermis layer. In the Chinese view we would define this as a lack of nourishment of qi and blood. The deep wrinkles often result from degeneration or depletion of the collagen and elastin fibers. They are associated with a lack of wine, blood and jing. Wrinkles in Chinese medicine Superficial wrinkles – wrinkles of this type will usually also be thin and the skin will be lackluster. They will usually be scattered around the eyes, jaw and sides of the mouth. These wrinkles are caused by a lack of nourishment of qi, blood and fluids. Wrinkles of this type can appear at any age and especially in a dry climate. Handling them is relatively easy. Deep wrinkles – these are wrinkles that are concentrated around the mouth, forehead, cheek area and neck area. As a result of weakness in the nutrition of the blood, jing and kidney yin. Wrinkles of this type tend to appear with advanced age and the treatment tends to be longer, due to the slow cell regeneration in older people. Before the appearance of wrinkles, the skin will be dry and we will not notice real wrinkles yet. In the first stage, the skin will be dull and lack luster. Its elasticity will decrease and superficial wrinkles will appear. In the second stage, the situation will worsen and the wrinkles will deepen even more.

Wrinkles

treatment in Chinese medicine: The treatment of wrinkles includes an initial diagnosis and the therapeutic strategy is determined based on the diagnosis. Clinic treatment and complementary treatment at home. The clinic will do a combination of facial massage using different techniques such as cupping, roller and gua-sha. Then cosmetic acupuncture in which points are chosen in different areas of the body according to the syndromes involved and then in local pathway/meridian points near and above the wrinkles. The complementary treatment at home includes medicinal plants and nutrition which are adapted to the patients individually based on the diagnosis.
